Iron County man charged in Alabama homicide

Anderson also suspect in Green Bay murder, attempted assault in IC

CALEB ANDERSON

FLOMATON, Alabama — A 23-year-old Upper Peninsula man suspected of a murder Tuesday in Green Bay, Wis., has been charged with killing a Flomaton man Wednesday morning, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Friday.

Caleb Scott Anderson of Iron County was arrested Wednesday in Shelby County, Alabama, on charges related to the Green Bay crime.

Evidence was also found potentially linking him to the death of Dwight Dixon, 52, who was found deceased when Flomaton officers responded to an emergency call Wednesday morning, according to ALEA.

Authorities have not released further details about the Flomaton murder or any possible motive,

Anderson is being charged with murder and first-degree burglary in Alabama and is in the Shelby County Jail without bond, ALEA said.

Anderson became the subject of a manhunt after a body was discovered Tuesday morning at Mission Hill Apartments in Green Bay, across the street from Southwest High School. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon by U.S. marshals in Helena, Alabama, where the Green Bay victim’s vehicle was recovered. The identity of the Green Bay victim has not been reported.

Flomaton is near the Gulf Coast and is almost a three-hour drive south of Helena.

Anderson is suspected as well of assaulting an 18-year-old woman who was jogging in Gaastra in Iron County early Monday. She fought off the attacker, who was unknown to her, and escaped, Michigan State Police said.

Anderson reportedly signed a waiver of extradition Friday on Michigan charges, though it was not clear if authorities planned to move him out of Alabama.
