WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — The four-day 2022 Marinette County Fair opens today at the fairgrounds in Wausaukee.

Judging of 4-H animals starts Friday morning, with the youth livestock auction set for 7 p.m. that same day. The horse speed show, with events such as runs through poles and barrels, takes place Saturday afternoon. The popular Livestock Costume Contest is 6 p.m. Saturday.

The fair this year will offer daily shows by the Aussie Kingdom, an educational program with live animals — kangaroos, birds, lizards — native to the Land Down Under.

Featured grandstand events include the mini- and modified tractor pull today, the farm tractor pull Friday, the demolition derby in the afternoon

and the supermodified truck and tractor pull in the evening Saturday, and the horse pull Sunday morning.

As was done last year, there will be no extra charge to attend the Thursday and Sunday grandstand competitions. Friday and Saturday events will be $8 or $5 for ages 6 to 12; younger than 6 are admitted free.

Music will be provided by a DJ tonight; Almost Normal, a rock cover band that plays hits from the ’70s to today, Friday night; the rock and country band Next Myle on Saturday night; and Jess Hav’n Phun, playing music from the ’50s and ’60s, on Sunday afternoon.

Other fair entertainment includes Juggler with Yellow Shoes and the Rob Thompson Magic Show.

Cost to enter the fairgrounds is $5 each day, $2 on Sunday. A weekend pass is $15. Parking is $1.

Exhibition buildings open at 9 a.m. today through Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. The commercial building will open at 11 a.m.
