IRON MOUNTAIN — Authorities are investigating a reported assault against a female jogger that took place about 6 a.m. Monday on Bates/Gaastra Road, just north of Gaastra in Iron County.

The woman, 18, was alone but able to fight off the attacker and get away, according to information from Michigan State Police at the Iron Mountain post.

The suspect has been described as a 5-foot-8, 220-pound white male in his mid-20s, with short red hair and freckles and moles on his face, troopers said. He was driving a silver vehicle, possibly a Ford.
