Pre-registration deadline Thursday for Lake Antoine Classic run-walk

IRON MOUNTAIN — The 45th annual Lake Antoine Classic will be held Saturday Aug. 27, at Lake Antoine Park beginning at 9 a.m.

The Classic is a benefit for the Dickinson-Iron Special Olympics, and is sponsored by Suzanne Varda-Cattelan, Systems Control, First National Bank of Iron Mountain, iwannagoLLC, and Tadych Family Foods. For many years, the proceeds from the Lake Antoine Classic have supported the Dickinson-Iron Special Olympics basketball program.

Events include a 2-mile run in the Lake Antoine Park area, a 5-mile run around Lake Antoine, and a 15k run through the Fumee Lake Natural Area. Walkers are welcome on the 2-mile and 5-mile courses, and bikers are encouraged to ride any of the courses.

The first three male and female finishers in each race will receive awards. In addition, medals will be given to the first three finishers in each age group. All participants and volunteers will receive a race t-shirt, and will be able to enjoy fruit and bagels provided by Tadych Family Foods, Gatorade provided by Walmart, and water provided by WP Beverages.

This year’s Lake Antoine Classic will again be held four weeks ahead of the Iron Mountain Road and Trail half marathon, making the 15k run a perfect training run for the half marathon. Approximately 4 miles of the 15k course is also on the half marathon course.

To register for the Classic, go to RunSignup.com.

Preregistration continues until Thursday, Aug. 18, after which registration fees increase by $5 per participant. There is no race day signup.
