IM man dies in motorcycle collision with city mower

IRON MOUNTAIN — A 34-year-old Iron Mountain man has died from injuries he received when his motorcycle collided with a city Public Works mower Tuesday near Lake Antoine.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post were called at 3:43 p.m. to the two-vehicle personal injury accident at the intersection of Lake Antoine Road and East Grand Boulevard in Iron Mountain.

An investigation determined a motorcycle was eastbound at a high rate of speed when it struck an Iron Mountain Public Works mower being operated by a city employee that was crossing the roadway.

The operator of the mower was uninjured.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Excessive speed is believed to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing. Michigan State Police were assisted at the crash site by Iron Mountain Police Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Iron Mountain Fire Department and Integrity Ambulance.
