FLORENCE, Wis. — A young bull moose was sighted this week at the home of Florence, Wis. resident Heather Hartman.

The animal, which was estimated to be between 1-2 years old, took out Hartman’s fence while trying to forage the apple trees in her backyard.

“I was actually at work,” Hartman recalls, informing that her landlord called and told her of the incident. Hartman’s neighbor, Johnny Johnson, captured the moose in still photos.

Hartman pondered how a moose would make its way into her yard to some of her coworkers, and she gathered from a fellow RIZE employee that moose migrate down south a bit when the weather starts getting cold.

“I just wouldn’t imagine Florence getting them!” she reports.

A friend warned her to be careful as they can be known to charge, and Hartman remarked that moose can be admired from a distance, but that she was relieved her dog Bellatrix was not there when the sighting took place.
