The torch carry began at the MSP Post on Iron Mountain’s North Side and proceeded south on U.S. 2 to the IMPD office in the downtown.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run, a community event to raise money for Special Olympics athletes, took place Tuesday. Participating agencies included Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Police Department, Kingsford Public Safety and Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department. The event drew about 50 participants, including area special need students and their caretakers. Leading the walk, from left, are Brittany Bowyer, MSP dispatch of Gaylord, MSP Trooper Geno Basanese, who helped coordinate the local event, and IMPD Sgt. Adam Ray. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest grassroots fundraising effort for Special Olympics International.
