Wallace man dies in Marinette County crash

MARINETTE, Wis. — An 85-year-old Wallace man was killed late Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in the town of Wagner in eastern Marinette County.

About 10:42 a.m. Wednesday a vehicle operated by the 85-year-old male was southbound on Old Rail Road when it apparently failed to yield right-of-way at a stop sign at County Highway X and was struck by a pickup truck traveling east on the highway, Marinette County Chief Deputy James Hansen stated in a news release.

The Wallace man was not wearing a seat belt and pronounced dead at the crash site by the county medical examiner.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Aurora Bay Area Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening; the passenger in that vehicle was not injured. Both were wearing seatbelts, according to Hansen.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office. They were assisted at the crash by the Wagner Fire Department, Wausaukee Rescue, Marinette County Dispatch Center and the medical examiner’s office.

Starting at $3.50/week.
