Dickinson’s tax value up

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County’s overall taxable value is up by $31.5 million, adding an estimated $220,781 in property tax revenues for county operations in 2022, said Equalization Director Matt Baumgartner.

The county board on Oct. 24 reviewed the 2022 equalization report, which shows a total taxable value of $968.8 million in the county. The 3.8% gain in county operations revenues follows gains of 2% in 2021 and 1.95% in 2020, Baumgartner said.

The rise in taxable value can be attributed to new construction, the uncapping or transfer of certain properties, and a higher consumer price index cap, he said.

In other action, the board:

— Accepted a quote of $1,250 from Pine Creek Excavating of Breitung Township to install a culvert on the east road at Fumee Lake.

— Received a request from the Hamilton Lakes Board for milfoil control funding, which may be considered as part of the 2023 budget. The Lake Antoine Association, meanwhile, has requested the county take over its milfoil program.

Starting at $4.00/week.
