Mechatronics grant
Susan Sturm, mechatronics instructor at the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District Career and Technical Education Center, was awarded a $5,000 community impact grant from Louisiana-Pacific Corp. Sturm’s STEM-based, college-level training prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities, from industrial maintenance technicians, millwrights, electricians and engineering fields such as electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering. Funds from this grant will be used to purchase equipment and supplies to assist students in gaining hands-on experience to better prepare them for future positions in companies such as Louisiana-Pacific. They expressed appreciation to Louisiana-Pacific for building strong relationships and recognizing programs that help the community.
