Skeletal remains discovered in Florence County
FLORENCE, Wis. — State and local authorities are investigating female human remains that a hunter discovered Friday morning in a rural wooded area of Florence County.
Forensic experts have determined the skeletal remains are of an adult female, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation stated in a news release Monday. Authorities now are working to identify the remains. At this time there is no indication they match a known missing person from the greater Florence County area, according to the news release.

The DCI is leading the investigation with assistance from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, the Florence County Coroner’s Office, and numerous other law enforcement agencies and medical professionals.
