Three dead, three hurt in two-vehicle crash in Waucedah
WAUCEDAH TOWNSHIP — A two-vehicle crash killed three people Sunday afternoon on Foster City Road in Waucedah Township.
The report came in about 3:07 p.m. Sunday from near Bourgeois Farm Road, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.
Based on investigation, a 2013 Ford Taurus was northbound on Foster City Road when it crossed into the southbound lane, striking a 2006 Buick Rendezvous, the sheriff’s department stated in a news release.
The driver of the Rendezvous attempted to brake but was unable to avoid the collision.
The 52-year-old female driver of the Ford Taurus and a 56-year-old male passenger, both of Felch Township, were pronounced dead at the crash site.
The other driver, a 46-year-old Norway man, also was dead at the site.
A child who was passenger in the Rendezvous was airlifted to Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wis., in critical condition. A 39-year-old Kingsford woman was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, while a second child was taken to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain for minor injuries.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the accident; however, it remains under investigation.
Assisting at the crash site were Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Norway Volunteer Fire Department, Town & Country, North Alert, Nordic Ambulance and Integrity Ambulance.
