Victim in fatal Florence County crash identified

FLORENCE, Wis. -- The Spencer, Wis., teen killed in a two-vehicle crash Nov. 5 on U.S. 2 near Westrin Road in the town of Florence, has been identified as Ashton Curtin, 18.

Curtin was a 2022 graduate of Spencer High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team, according to the Hub City Times.

He was the lone occupant of a eastbound vehicle that crossed the center line at about 2 p.m. and collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Brent Ellis, 65, of Crystal Falls. Both Ellis and a passenger, 57-year-old Kenneth Henry of Magnolia, Texas, suffered serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florence County Sheriff's Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
