Crappie action has been good for ice anglers, with many of them catching their limits, said Fay Whisler at Whisler Outdoors in Florence, Wis. Both live and artificial baits are working.
The northern pike bite has also been good for anglers using sucker minnows under tip-ups. Perch have been hitting on wigglers and walleye action has picked up.
“Anglers are reporting walleye catches of up to 28 inches,” Whisler said. “Most catches have been in the evening.”
Rains earlier this week have reduced most snowmobile trails to ice or bare spots. Grooming is on hold until there is a significant snowfall, the Tri-County Snowmobile Club said.
