With rain in the forecast, flood warnings remain in effect for the Menominee River, although the National Weather Service predicts levels may soon fall below flood stage.

Minor flooding was reported near Vulcan, covering low-lying land, farm land and wooded areas. On Wednesday, the Menominee was about 4 inches above the flood stage of 15 feet, but was expected to fall below that level overnight, NWS said.

In Niagara, Wis., the river was about 7 inches above the flood stage of 13 feet -- where water approaches the parking lot of Union Protestant Church -- but was expected to retreat late today.

A flood warning remains in effect for the Menominee and Pine rivers near Florence, Wis., while a warning was lifted Wednesday for the Brule River near Commonwealth, Wis.

The forecast calls for rain and possible thunderstorms today with a half-inch or more of precipitation possible. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Friday should bring a high in the 50s.

Rain or snow is likely Saturday, with a high only in the low 40s. There's a chance of snow again Sunday when the predicted high is 42.
