HANCOCK — Authorities say a Hancock woman missing since Tuesday has been found dead.

The body of Mary Ylitalo was found after an extensive search, the Hancock Police Department reported.

Ylitalo, 23, had last been seen at 7:30 p.m. May 23 in the 800 block of Ingot Street in Hancock.

Participating in the search for Ylitalo were Hancock Police and Hancock Department of Public Works, Hancock Fire Department, Hancock Transit, Houghton Police Department, Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan State Police, Aviation and K-9 Units, Negaunee Regional Dispatch and Superior Search and Rescue.
