Kingsford’s top 10% for Class of 2023

ASHLYN BLASKOWSKI

KINGSFORD — The Breitung Township School District has recognized the top 10% of the Kingsford High School Class of 2023.

These are seniors who have achieved a grade-point average of 4.021 to 4.236.

The top 10% are:

— Ashlyn Blaskowski is the daughter of Marcus and Diane Blaskowski. Her school activities include student council, National Honor Society, SADD and tutoring. She was student council treasurer, All A’s honor roll from ninth to 12th grades, and Academic Letter and Bar for All A’s. Athletically, she was tennis team captain and First Team All-UP for tennis. Blaskowski plans to study business management as a pre-law track at Northern Michigan University.

— Maria Fornetti is the daughter of Dr. Ted and Kristy Fornetti. Her school activities include Flivver Family president and founder, SADD vice president and senior class treasurer. She was on honor roll from ninth to 12th grades, Academic Letter and Bar, National Rural and Small Town Recognition Award. Athletically, she was member and captain of Norway High School varsity ski team and KHS varsity soccer, varsity soccer All-Conference first team in 2022; women’s varsity All-Region skier in 2021, 2022, 2023; women’s varsity skiing All-Upper Peninsula second team in 2022; women’s varsity skiing All-State second team in 2022; women’s varsity skiing All-State Academic Team in 2022 and 2023; and women’s varsity skiing All-Upper Peninsula first team in 2023. Fornetti plans to study biomolecular science on a pre-dental track at the University of Michigan.

MARIA FORNETTI

— Chloe Fraker is the daughter of Kevin and Joyce Fraker. Her school activities include National Honor Society service co-chair, student council, SADD, IM-K Youth Advisory Council, Flivver Family, Yearbook Club and KHS Swim Team. She was Industrial Arts Student of the Year in 2021 and 2022, Academic Letter and Bar, honor roll from ninth to 12th grades, and 400-plus community service volunteer hours. Fraker plans to study elementary education at Bay de Noc Community College for two years, then transfer to Northern Michigan University.

— Peyton Johnson is the daughter of Jodi Mortier and Donald Johnson. School activities include French Club, Quiz Bowl, Jazz Band, Drama Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, Yearbook Club and Ski Team. She was on the honor roll and Academic Letter and Bar for All A’s. Johnson plans to study graphic design at the University of Michigan.

— Jaelyn Kriegl is the daughter of Nicole and John Kriegl. Her school activities include National Honor Society, Peer to Peer, SADD and tutoring. She earned all A’s Honor Roll from ninth to 12th grade, National Honor Society and Academic Letter and Bar. Kriegl plans to study biology as pre-veterinary medicine at Northern Michigan University.

— Erika Malone is the daughter of Brad and Stephanie Coe, and James Malone. Her school activities include science and math tutoring, National Honor Society treasurer, SADD, Key Club and Flivver Family. She has earned KHS Student of the Week, Society of Women Engineers Award, Academic Bar award for All A’s for five semesters, National Community Service-Honor Merit Award, Michigan Community Impact Award and was a MY Lead nominee. As an athlete, she was an All-Conference soccer player for two years; All-Conference basketball defensive player; earned varsity letters for soccer, track and basketball; U.P. champions for soccer; U.P. champion for long jump; and 2023 Heisman winner. Malone plans to study exercise science at Grand Valley State University.

— Isaac Nash is the son of Matt and Tamara Nash. His school activities include French Club, Key Club and HOSA vice president. He has been AP Chemistry Student of the Year in 2022, World History Most 100% Test Scores in 2022, on honor roll from ninth to 12th grades and received Academic Letter and Bar. Athletically, Nash played basketball and tennis, earning tennis MVP in 2022. He plans to study biochemistry at Northern Michigan University in preparation for dental school.

CHLOE FRAKER

— Efrosina Jean Reith is the daughter of Hristina Reith. Her school activities include student council, Quiz Bowl, girls golf team, French Club, tutoring and helping in KHS Library. She has been on honor roll from ninth to 12th grades, top 10% of class, academic letter, College Board of Rural and Small Town Recognition Award, College Board AP Scholar Award, Youth Spirit of Hope Award (200 hours of volunteer service), Russian School of Mathematics Student, John Hopkins Center for talented youth student, and invitation to attend Rice University Aerospace and Aviation Academy. Reith plans to conduct research on particle astrophysics at the University of Michigan for Astrophysics.

— Ailee Sutton is the daughter of Kendalynn and Marc Sutton. Her school activities include National Honor Society, SADD, Youth Advisory Council, Student Council and Backpack Blessings assistant. She has been student council vice president, National Honor Society historian, All A’s honor roll, Academic Letter and Bar and Top 10%. Sutton plans to study secondary education English and minor in psychology at Northern Michigan University toward become a school psychologist.

— Benjamin Trevillian is the son of Kevin and Sara Trevillian. His school activities include student council president, Key Club president, KHS class secretary, National Honor Society parliamentarian, DAR Good Citizen Award, KHS Student of the Week and Governor Youth Award. In athletics, Trevillian participated in football, basketball and tennis; was Academic All-State in football; and Heisman Award school winner. He plans to study biochemistry on the pre-medicine path.

— Hunter White is the son of Tim and Ann White. His school activities include Quiz Bowl team captain, Anime Club president and Drama Club. He has earned All A’s honor roll, KHS Academic Letter, KHS Advanced Placement U.S. History Award 2022, and College Board National Rural and Small Town Recognition. White plans to seek a doctorate degree in astrophysics at the University of Michigan or the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

— Amanda Yu is the daughter of Min and Jenny Yu. Her school activities include National Honor Society president, KHS tutor, Key Club secretary, SADD treasurer and Yearbook Club editor. She was on the honor roll from ninth to 12th grade, was a KHS Student of the Week, and earned Academic Letter and Bar, National Rural and Small Town Recognition Award, AP Scholar with Distinction, Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Quarter finalist, National Community Service Merit Award, National Community Service Honor Award, National Community Service Ambassador Award, Michigan Community Impact Award, Michigan Youth Spirit of Hope Award, Michigan Youth Change Maker Award, Humanity Rising Change Maker Award and Humanity Rising Inspiration Award. In athletics, Yu was captain of varsity basketball and varsity golf. She plans to study economics at Stanford University.
