IRON MOUNTAIN — Dry conditions will result in elevated wildfire potential today, and again this weekend, in portions of the central and western Upper Peninsula, the National Weather Service said.

“Avoid outdoor burning,” forecasters said, noting winds could gust as high as 20 to 25 mph today.

Thunderstorms will be possible across the western U.P. today, and elsewhere tonight, the weather service said.
