Back to the present

IXL Historical Museum photo
Terri Castelaz/Daily News photo

This week’s photo provided by the IXL Historical Museum shows the Hermansville Farm Produce Warehouse from the late 1930s or early 1940s. The building was moved in the 1990s from W5547 River St. in Hermansville to the IXL Historical Museum grounds. Visitors to the museum can see many items from the Wisconsin Land & Lumber Company on display, along with a representation of a general store from the early 1900s. The second photo is a view from that location — now the home of the Thomas St. Onge Vietnam Museum. The museum was established in 1998 and was dedicated in 2002. It is named for a hometown resident who was killed in action in 1969 during the Vietnam War.

The Daily News is bringing back its photos of “yesteryear,” with a twist. Each week an historical photograph from area museums will be posted on The Daily News Facebook. Readers will be asked to identify the location, as well as share a memorable experience of the location. “Back to the present” will then be published in the Wednesday edition, including a current photo. Readers can comment on The Daily News Facebook page, or email tcastelaz@ironmountaindailynews.com with subject “Back to the present.”
