Depotie, Hord top two in ND Class of ’23

LILY DEPOTIE

FELCH TOWNSHIP — North Dickinson County School District has named the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2023.

They are —

— Lily Depotie, daughter of Joseph and Carrie Depotie, was valedictorian after earning a grade-point average of 3.97. She achieved eight consecutive semesters of all A’s.

In high school, Depotie participated in volleyball, basketball, track and field and, as a senior, softball when established at North Dickinson. She was an All-State Academic student her senior year for volleyball.

Depotie’s other honors in high school included awards for algebra, English, solo and ensemble top ratings, chemistry, writing, precalculus and band, where she twice earned a Solo and Ensemble Top Rating and was Band MVP her senior year.

AIDEN HORD

Outside of school, she has done altar service at St. Joseph’s Mission Church in Foster City and was a summer intern for Trident Maritime Systems for three years.

Depotie plans to pursue an English degree at St. Norbert’s College in De Pere, Wis.

— Aiden Mae Hord, daughter of Chad Hord and Amy Hord, was salutatorian after earning a 3.94 GPA.

In high school, Hord participated in volleyball and basketball, where she was captain of both teams, as well as track and field and, as a senior, softball. She was on the all-conference first team as a senior in Skyline Central Conference for volleyball, on the All-Region team in volleyball as a senior and on the academic All-State team from the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association.

Hord also served on student council, including as president her senior year; was on the National Honor Society; the Yearbook Committee and was in the youth group.

Her other honors in high school included English, biology and precalculus awards; the Women of Math and Science Award from Michigan Technological University; Coaches Recognition Award for basketball as a junior; and Student of the Month for graphic communication and Student of the Semester at the Dickinson Iron Intermediate School District Technical Education Center.

Outside of school, Hord’s hobbies include photography, hunting, reading and hanging out with friends and family.

She plans to study marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Graduation ceremonies for North Dickinson County seniors took place May 12.
