KINGSFORD –At this year’s Kingsford High School scholarship ceremony, Commander Eric Rolfs, and BU2(SCW/EXW) Savon Hunte from the U.S. Navy recognized KHS Senior Mackenzie Primeau as a recipient of an NROTC scholarship.

This scholarship is valued at $200,000 and covers full tuition and fees. It is a highly competitive scholarship with only 1,500 recipients in the country receiving the award this year.

Primeau is the daughter of Gregory and Janel Primeau of Breitung Township. She will attend Marquette University in the fall to study in the field of engineering. Throughout her high school career, her involvement in her community is extensive.

This is evident through her involvement in the Girl Scouts and over 200 hours of community volunteer service. She was the service chair for the KHS National Honor Society and was essential in the coordination of the annual blood drives.

She has consistently demonstrated high academic achievement, good character, and leadership by example at Kingsford High School. Primeau is highly regarded by her classmates, teachers, and coaches.

“We are very proud of Mackenzie for earning the NROTC scholarship. She is among a select few annually honored to receive this award,” KHS Scholarship coordinator Jamie Lockhart said. “Mackenzie has dedicated herself to the NROTC process this past year and her hard work has paid off. We are confident that she will represent herself, her family, Kingsford High School, and the United States Navy very well and we thank her for her commitment to serving our country.”
