Three injured in bridge crash

IRON MOUNTAIN — Three people were injured in a head-on collision Monday night on the U.S. 141 bridge between Breitung Township and Niagara, Wis., but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 7:35 p.m. when a northbound GMC Envoy driven by a 23-year-old Iron Mountain woman collided with a southbound Buick driven by a 16-year-old female from Kingsford, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses told deputies the northbound GMC had crossed the center line, deputies said.

Both drivers, and a 15-year-old female who was a passenger in the Buick, were taken to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson for treatment of injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and alcohol may have been a factor, according to the sheriff’s office.

Assisting were Michigan State Police, Niagara Police Department, Breitung Township Fire Department, Integrity Care EMS, Niagara EMS, R&R Tire and Town & Country Towing.
