Tigers on the hunt
A swarm of Canadian tiger swallowtail butterflies converges on a damp spot on a dirt road in northern Dickinson County, hunting for salts and minerals in the ground. While this behavior is called “puddling,” there are few puddles to be found these days that aren’t manmade. Dry conditions will continue at least until the weekend, when the National Weather Service has listed a chance for rain Saturday night into Monday. (Betsy Bloom/Daily News photo)
