Woman inside building seriously injured, flown to UW hospital in Madison

KINGSFORD — A vehicle crashed into the Northpointe Behavioral Healthcare System building at 715 Pyle Drive on Thursday afternoon, seriously injuring a woman who was inside the structure.

The woman was taken to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson and flown to UW Health University Hospital in Madison, Wis., for further treatment, according to the Kingsford Public Safety Department.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson, officers said.

The building, which was struck at about 1:25 p.m. by a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria, sustained major damage at its northeast corner. There were three people in the office that was hit, officers said.

The crash remains under investigation.

KPS was assisted by Dickinson County Sheriff Department, Michigan State Police accident investigator, Iron Mountain Police Department, Integrity Care Ambulance, Kingsford Department of Public Works, and Dickinson County Construction Code Commission.

Officers remained at the site for about 90 minutes.
