The West Iron County High School Bowl Team wrapped up a successful season, recently placing 13th in Chicago at the Small Schools National Championship, which included 77 of the best teams nationwide. Earlier, West Iron placed first at the Upper Peninsula Spring Quiz Bowl Showdown held at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. “Our little local community was very generous in supporting our team and made it possible for us to go to the Hyatt Regency Conference Center for the (national) competition,” said Joel VanLanen, WIC High School Bowl coach.
