Eight rescued after carnival ride stalls in Crandon
CRANDON, Wis. — A carnival ride stalled while riders were upside-down Sunday at the Forest County Festival in Crandon, leaving them stuck for at least three hours before they could be rescued, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
The Antigo Fire Department resonded with its ladder truck to the circular Fireball ride at the festival at about 2 p.m. after eight people — seven of them children — became stuck in the upright position.
There were no reported injuries, but the riders were all taken to a hospital to be checked out.
“All we know that there is a mechanical failure with the ride where it became stuck in the upright position. The ride was recently inspected by the state of Wisconsin here on site and at this time, we do not have any other information,” Capt. Brennan Cook, Crandon Fire Department, said in a statement to CBS 58 News.
