The Marinette Police Department has identified a person of interest and located a vehicle suspected in a fatal hit-and-run Saturday.
That person is cooperating with law enforcement authorities and their investigation, the Marinette agency said on its Facebook page, adding the public is not considered to be at threat.
According to Marinette police, Marinette County Dispatch received a 911 call about 2:18 a.m. that a man on a bicycle had been struck by a vehicle on the U.S. 41 Interstate Bridge linking Marinette and Menominee.
Officers found a 48-year-old male down at the site and, despite immediately starting lifesaving measures, the man was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
The victim was identified Monday as David Joseph Fournier of Menominee.
Several agencies assisted at the site, including the Marinette Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area EMS personnel, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, Marinette County Medical Examiner's Office, the Menominee Fire Department and the Menominee Police Department.
