MADISON -- The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin is urging Wisconsin households to participate in the Wisconsin Internet Self-Report survey to assist in directing recently announced broadband funding.
This call comes after the National Telecommunications and Information Administration revealed that Wisconsin will receive more than $1 billion through the 'Internet for All' Broadband Equity, Access & Deployment Program, aimed at connecting every unserved home and business in the state to broadband internet.
To aid in the state's internet planning efforts, the PSC is requesting all Wisconsin households to complete the WISER survey by Friday. The survey, which includes a speed test, is designed to gather information on customers' internet service experience.
The process is confidential and only takes a few minutes to complete. The data collected will enable the PSC's Wisconsin Broadband Office to identify areas where internet service is lacking, too expensive, underperforming, or difficult to access, and subsequently support internet adoption for Wisconsin residents.
Households with internet access can find the WISER survey online at maps.psc.wi.gov/apps/WISER. Residents should use their Wi-Fi or home computer to complete the survey rather than mobile data.
Those without internet access or who can only access the internet through cellphone data plans are asked to call 608-261-6026 to take the survey by phone with the assistance of a dedicated PSC team member.
The PSC aims to leverage the data collected from the WISER survey to guide the allocation of the recently announced broadband funding and achieve the goal of universal internet throughout Wisconsin.
