Area districts get ready to start 2023-24 school year

Schools in the region are set to come back into session in the next couple of weeks, with classes in the North Dickinson County District resuming Monday.
Some details on area school calendars include:
MICHIGAN
NORTH DICKINSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
FELCH TOWNSHIP -- Students will start classes for 2023-24 on Monday.
All grades will be in class from 8:25 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday unless otherwise noted on the school calendar.
Students will not attend Aug. 25, a professional development day, and no classes will meet Sept. 1 until after Labor Day the following Monday.
Other significant days off include Deer Day on Nov. 15, Thanksgiving Break Nov. 23-24, Holiday Break from Dec. 25 through Jan. 1 (students will have an extra day off for staff professional development) and Spring Break from March 25 through April 1.
Graduation is set for May 17.
The final day of classes for the 2023-24 school year is May 24.
WEST IRON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
IRON RIVER -- The first day of classes for students is set for Tuesday.
Labor Day break will be Sept. 1-4.
School will not be in session from Nov. 22-24 for Thanksgiving.
Christmas break will be Dec. 20 through Jan 2.
Feb. 12 will have no classes for a mid-winter break.
Spring break is from March 25 through April 1.
No classes will be held on May 27 for Memorial Day.
The final day for students for the 2023-2024 school year is May 30.
FOREST PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT
CRYSTAL FALLS -- Students will begin classes on Thursday.
School will not be in session Sept. 1-5 for Labor Day.
Nov. 20 will be a half-day for parent-teacher conferences, followed by no school on Nov. 21 for a professional development day.
Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 22-24.
Winter break is set to begin with a half-day Dec. 20, then extend through Jan. 2.
Class will not be in session Jan. 22 for a professional development day. Students will be out Feb. 16 for a professional development day as well, with a winter break set for Feb. 19.
Spring Break will be March 25 through April 1.
Graduation ceremonies for 2024 seniors are planned for May 25.
Classes will not meet May 27 for Memorial Day. The final day for students and teachers is tentatively set for May 30.
NORTH CENTRAL AREA SCHOOLS
POWERS -- Students will start school Thursday.
Labor Day break will be Sept. 1-4.
Classes will not be in session Oct. 13 due to a staff professional development day.
No classes will be held on Nov. 15 for hunting season, there will also be no school Nov. 22-24 for Thanksgiving break.
Winter break is from Dec. 22 through Jan 2.
On Jan. 19 there will be no school for a staff professional development day.
On Feb. 12 school will not be in season for Mid-Winter Break.
From Mar. 25-29 is Spring Break, Apr. 1 is a built in snow day,
Classes will also not be in session and Apr. 19 for a staff professional development day.
Graduation is on May 17.
There will be no classes on May 27 for Memorial Day.
The last day of class for the 2023-2024 school year is May 30.
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
KINGSFORD -- Students will report for the first day of class Monday, Aug. 28.
Classes will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some slight variation by location, unless otherwise noted in the school calendar.
Other significant days off include Nov. 15 for Deer Day and Nov. 23-24 for Thanksgiving.
Winter Break will be Dec. 20 through Jan. 2.
Spring Break is set for March 25 through April 2.
The last day of classes for the 2023-2024 school year is June 3.
IRON MOUNTAIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS DISTRICT
IRON MOUNTAIN -- Iron Mountain Public Schools will come back into session on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Classes will break for the Labor Day holiday from Sept. 1 through 4.
Schools will be closed as well on Oct. 13 and Nov. 15.
Nov. 22 will be a half-day and classes will be out for the Thanksgiving holiday until Nov. 26.
Winter break is set for Dec. 20 through Jan. 2.
Classes will be out Jan. 24 and March 13 for professional development. School also will be closed Feb. 12 for a mid-winter break.
Spring break will be March 25 through April 1.
School will be closed May 27 for the Memorial Day holiday.
Graduation is set for May 24.
The last day of class for the 2023-2024 school year is June 5.
NORWAY-VULCAN AREA SCHOOLS
NORWAY -- The first day of classes for Norway-Vulcan Area Schools will be Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Labor Day break is Sept. 1-4.
Classes will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 6 and Nov. 3 for a teacher in-service.
Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 23-24. Christmas break is set for Dec. 20 through Jan. 2.
Students will be out Jan. 19 for a full-day teacher in-service. A winter break day is set for Feb. 12. Classes will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. March 22 for a teacher in-service.
Spring break begins March 25 and runs through April 2.
School will not be in session on Memorial Day, May 27. June 7 is the last day of classes for students.
WISCONSIN
SCHOOL DISTRICT OF NIAGARA
NIAGARA, Wis. -- An open house will take place Wednesday.
The first day of school for Niagara is Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Classes will break for Labor Day from Sept. 1-4.
Oct. 19 will be an early dismissal due to parent/teacher conferences and there will be no classes on Oct. 20 for a staff development day.
Thanksgiving break is set for Nov. 22-24. Winter break will be Dec. 22 through Jan.1.
School will also be closed Jan. 19 for a staff development day.
Classes will be out Feb. 23-26 for Mid-Winter break.
Spring break will be March 24 through April 1.
Graduation takes place May 17.

SCHOOL DISTRICT OF FLORENCE COUNTY
FLORENCE, Wis. -- The first day of classes will be Monday, Aug. 28.
Classes will be out Sept. 4 for Labor Day.
Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 20-26, Christmas break Dec. 25 through Jan. 1.
Classes will be dismissed early on Feb. 15 and school closed Feb. 16 for Mid-Winter break.
Easter break is March 22 through April 1.
Graduation ceremonies will take place May 24.
School will be out May 27 for Memorial Day.
The final day of class for Florence County students is May 31.
BEECHER-DUNBAR-PEMBINE SCHOOL DISTRICT
PEMBINE, Wis. -- The first day of classes for students will be Monday, Aug. 28.
Classes will not be in session Sept. 1 for teacher in-service days. School will be closed Sept. 4 as well for Labor Day.
Teacher in-service days will also take place Sept. 29 and Nov. 17.
Thanksgiving break is Nov. 20-26.
A teacher in-service day Dec. 22 will be followed by Christmas break from Dec. 25 to Jan 2.
Teacher in-service day are also scheduled for Jan. 19, Feb. 23 and April 26.
Spring break is set for March 25 to April 1.
Graduation will be May 24. The last day of classes will be May 29.
GOODMAN-ARMSTRONG CREEK SCHOOL DISTRICT
GOODMAN, Wis. -- Classes are scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 28.
School will be out Sept. 1-4 for Labor Day.
Classes will not be in session Oct. 12-13 for in-service days.
School will be closed from Nov. 20-24 for Thanksgiving holiday break.
The winter holiday break will be Dec. 22 through Jan. 1.
Additional in-service days for teachers have been set for Jan. 19 and Feb. 22-23.
Spring break will be March 25 to April 1.
Classes will also not be in session on April 26.
Graduation ceremonies are set for May 25.
The final day of classes has been scheduled for May 29.
