Dickinson fair opens today

JEWEL NORD, LEFT, a small animal exhibitor and volunteer, checks in Lindsey Quinnell’s rabbits Wednesday at the Dickinson County Fair in Norway. Quinnell, of Iron Mountain, won first place in her first year showing at the fair in 2022 with her Angora rabbit. The fair for the first time will have a small animal auction before the market livestock auction Saturday. Tractor Supply Co. in Iron Mountain is a sponsor of the small animal barn.
NORWAY — It’s fair time.
The 113th Dickinson County Fair will officially open at 5 p.m. today.
Exhibitor Day activities begin with the breeding livestock show from noon to 4:30 p.m. in the rotunda.
The new “Quiet Fair,” which is by invitation only, begins at 2 p.m. Participants will be able to enjoy rides, games, food and animals without the loud noises and flashing lights.
The Skerbeck Carnival opens at 4 p.m. and continues until the fair closes at 11 p.m. Daily ride armbands are $25 each day.
Kids can also visit with the animals at the Whispering Pines Mobile Zoo near the carnival area.
Admission to the fair is $6 a day or $20 for the week. Ages 5 and younger are admitted free. All grandstand shows are free.
