ESCANABA -- Two people have been charged in connection with a stabbing that took place at an Escanaba bar early Aug. 5.
Roma Stanley Maier and Leah-Anne Marie Wera were arraigned Aug. 7 on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or $5,000.
The stabbing occurred at 12:24 a.m. in the back lounge area of the Granada Bar, 330 S. 10th St. in Escanaba, according to Escanaba Public Safety.
The male victim, whose name has not been released, had serious injuries, including a wound to his abdomen. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment.
Maier and Wera were later arrested and lodged in the Delta County Jail.
