IRON RIVER -- A man wanted in Wisconsin for absconding felony parole was taken into custody in Iron River after an Aug. 11 traffic stop that resulted in cocaine charges against him and his female passenger, Iron River police said in a news release Wednesday.
James Louis Bardo is being held on a $50,000 cash bond for charges in Iron County, Iron River Police Chief Curt T. Harrington said. Bardo, who also has four felony warrants out of Wisconsin, faces a $100,000 bond for absconding felony parole, Harrington said.
Bardo was the driver of a Buick LeSabre that Iron River police stopped, subsequently learning from Iron County Central Dispatch of the Wisconsin warrants. Bardo was immediately taken into custody.
A vehicle search turned up scales and other drug paraphernalia, along with a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for cocaine, Harrington said.
Iron County Prosecutor Chad DeRouin has authorized two counts of possession of cocaine against Bardo, along with charges of operating an unregistered vehicle, operating a vehicle without a license and habitual offender, fourth.
The passenger, Carol Chacon, faces two counts of cocaine possession. She was held on a $5,000 cash bond.
