F Street house damaged by fire

IRON MOUNTAIN -- No one was injured in a fire that caused heavy damage to a house on East F Street on Wednesday afternoon.
Iron Mountain firefighters found heavy fire on the first floor when they arrived at 3:19 p.m. at 840 E. F St., four minutes after the call was received, said Jeff Friedenstab, Iron Mountain deputy director of fire services. Mutual aid was requested from Breitung Township Fire Department, he stated in a news release.
A search of the structure revealed one resident was potentially missing, but that person later was reported safe at another location.
The blaze was under control within an hour, but crews continued to find pockets of fire in the ceiling and walls, Friedenstab said.
Damage was initially estimated at $40,000 to the structure and contents, and the house is uninhabitable, the news release stated.
A total of 18 firefighters, three engines, a heavy rescue truck and a mini-pump responded. Assisting were Iron Mountain Police Department, Breitung Township Fire Department, Integrity Care EMS, We Energies, DTE Energy and American Red Cross.
The fire remains under investigation.
