IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority will host a pre-game for its upcoming Oktoberfest on Thursday.

The Third Thursday, sponsored by Linnea & Kristine, will again kick off with shopping and dining at 20 of the downtown businesses that have extended hours. Patrons will receive raffle tickets as they visit the participating stores from 4 to 7 p.m.

"This week is the perfect time to come to our downtown businesses and be enter in our Oktoberfest inspired raffle," said DDA Event Coordinator Kenzie Williamsen, adding a complete list of businesses is posted on the Iron Mountain DDA Facebook page.

Tickets can then be brought by 7:20 p.m. to the Wild Horse Saloon, at 714 River Ave., where the German-themed festivities will continue. A drawing will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Bryan Drewyor the One Human Band will be performing from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The music is sponsored by First National Bank & Trust.

The Wild Horse will also offer a bratwurst special, as well as Oktoberfest beers.

"We encourage everyone to come dressed in their Bavarian outfits to add to the fun," Williamsen said. "We will also have chances to win free tickets to the Oktoberfest celebration on Sept. 30."

For October, downtown shoppers can still earn raffle tickets during the extended hours; however, there will be no entertainment for Third Thursday as the DDA will host a private party for its volunteers.

"This is one way we can thank them for all their help for the season," she said.

Any raffle tickets earned for October's Third Thursday can be kept for the Girls Night Out baskets which concludes the season.

"This is a perfect way to extra tickets for our special November event," she said. "It's going to conclude at Odd Fellows with the duo Soul Child performing."

Girls Night Out details will be announced after they work out the final details, Williamsen noted.
