Auto Value: Store has more than just parts for passenger vehicles

IRON MOUNTAIN -- For more than 45 years, the crew at Auto Value Iron Mountain have been providing auto repair businesses and the general public with quality auto parts for the Dickinson County area.
Auto Value Iron Mountain has been at its current location at 120 E. Main St. in Iron Mountain -- the former Mortl's Sports Center -- for two years.
The business in the past few weeks has transitioned to a new manager, Ryan Rea, who has 14 years of experience as a mechanic. Before that, Rea was a dispatcher.
"It is a good company to work for, so I'm not planning on going anywhere," Rea said. "I could not wrench anymore; it was to the point where I was waking up not wanting to go to work. (Auto Value) was hiring and I came on; they like to promote within the company. I'm going to move up."
In addition to Rea, Auto Value Iron Mountain has four employees, which puts them at full staffing at a time when keeping a full crew has been difficult.
Auto Value's business has been roughly an even mix of local garages picking up parts and sales to do-it-yourselfers, Rea said.
Auto Value Iron Mountain offers some unique products and services, such as agricultural parts, heavy-duty truck parts, truck accessories, marine parts, paint and body supplies and performance parts.
In addition, Auto Value Iron Mountain also recycles oil, exchanges batteries, and sells parts for imports and snow plows.
Rea said the business is trying to get the word out about having heavy-duty parts. "The biggest thing we carry is heavy duty and a lot of people don't know that," Rea said. "You drive by, you would not know it. We have signs saying it now, and it is advertised on our vehicles -- that is one thing we are trying to push is the heavy-duty side and that we do carry the stuff."
Auto Value Iron Mountain often runs sales on featured products. Right now they are helping drivers get ready for winter with diesel additives, windshield wipers and light bulbs.
Rea credits a never-say-no attitude for keeping Auto Value competitive. "We will dig into that extra work to find what our customers have to have, and we will go the extra mile," he said.
Auto Value is open 7:30 a.m.to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
