MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Regional History Center presents "The Return: Film and Discussion" at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday at the Marquette Regional History Center.
In June of 2022, the bones of Father Jacques Marquette were reburied in St. Ignace. The presentation will feature information about Marquette, the 17th century Jesuit priest and the remarkable journey of his remains. Following the 23 minute screening of "The Return" there will be a Q & A featuring guests from the Cedar Tree Institute who were involved in the re-burial project. They include representatives from Mackinac County's Native American community, tribal elders Tony Grondin and Russ Rickley and members of the staff of the Museum of Ojibwa Culture, Assistant Director Frances Moses Wyers and Director Tom Wyers, along with the film's director, Makari Rising, and the project's designated historian, Dan Rydholm.
Others attending include Jon Magnuson and Steve Mattson, of The Cedar Tree Institute.
A $5 suggested donation will be used to support the ongoing programs of the Marquette Regional History Center.
