Back to the present
The Daily News is bringing back photos of “yesteryears.” Each week, an historical photograph will be posted on The Daily News’ Facebook page. Readers will be asked to identify the location, as well as share a memorable experience of the location. “Back to the present” will then be published in the Wednesday edition, including a current photo. Readers can comment on The Daily News’ Facebook page, or email tcastelaz@ironmountaindailynews.com with subject “Back to the present.”

Jim Snowdon of Hamilton Lakes is pictured in October 1965 after a successful deer hunt with a Ben Pearson recurve bow. Snowdon started archery hunting in 1954, initially using a Fred Bear long bow. A member of the Michigan Bow Hunters, he is still an avid hunter and now uses a crossbow. In the second photo is Snowdon's great-grandson Oston Roberts of Escanaba, who harvested a deer with the same Ben Pearson bow first used by "Grandpa Dude" 58 years ago.
