ESCANABA -- The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration awarded $870,000 in training grants to 20 nonprofit organizations statewide to strengthen worker safety and health. The annual MIOSHA Consultation Education and Training grants are awarded for the development and implementation of safety and health training and services, specifically to help support small and medium-sized businesses.
Bay College, one of the CET grant recipients, will use its grant dollars to provide Chainsaw Safety and Safe Cutting Techniques training across the state. "Bay College has a highly qualified and experienced trainer that provides this critical training to a wide range of industries," said Workforce Training Manager Renee Lundberg. "This grant allows Bay College to provide targeted safety training on the use of a chainsaw, PPE, job safety analysis, and safe cutting and felling, especially around powerlines."
