MARINETTE, Wis. -- A two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on U.S. 8 claimed the life of a 69-year-old Goodman, Wis., man, said Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller.
John Benzow was pulling onto the highway just east of Tower Road in Goodman at 5:21 p.m. and failed to yield to a partially loaded dump truck, the sheriff said in a news release.
Benzow was wearing a seatbelt but sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the dump truck, Randy C. Peterson, 65, of Loretto, was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured, the sheriff said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Marinette County medical examiner.
Assisting were the Town of Goodman Fire Department, Beecher-Dunbar Fire Department and Goodman Rescue.
This was the sixth fatality in Marinette County in 2023, Miller said.
