Legislature honors Norway school
State Rep. Jenn Hill, D-Marquette, was at Norway Elementary School earlier this week to recognize it being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, an honor only three other Upper Michigan schools have earned. Hill presented the school with a framed certificate from the Michigan Legislature recognizing the school’s achievement. Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Waucedah Township, added with his signature that he was a proud graduate of NHS in 1999. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance and educational environment, as well as the success they have achieved in closing the gaps between subgroups of students.
