Former shelter dog earns agility title

MANITOWOC, Wis. — Katydid It, or “Katie,” a 9-year-old mixed-breed dog owned by Tammy Carlson of Kingsford earned her United Grand Agility Champion title in Manitowoc, Wis., at Liberty All Breed K9 Club’s UKC Agility trial last fall.

To achieve this title, the team must earn a total of five legs. A leg is earned by qualifying in all three levels of agility — beginner, intermediate and excellent — in one trial with a combined score of 588 or higher out of a possible 600 points.

Katie and Carlson attended trials in Escanaba and Manitowoc. The team competes mainly in agility and nosework and have earned a total of 87 performance titles to date across United Kennel Club, American Kennel Club and North American Dog Agility Council Canine Performance Events.

Katie was adopted from Almost Home Animal Shelter.
