This week’s Back to the Present photograph, provided by the Menominee Range Historical Museum in Iron Mountain, is a 1909 view of the Masonic Block at 316 Nelson St. in Norway.
The two store rooms on the first floor of the two-story brick building, at the southwest corner of South Nelson Street (now Main Street) and Frederick Street (now Eighth Avenue), housed The People’s Store and the Norway Candy Kitchen. The lodge rooms were on the second floor.
It was scheduled to open in the late spring of 1909, likely right before this postcard view was taken.
The Ben Franklin Store was later located in this building.
