The Feb. 27 presidential primary election will be the first in Michigan with early voting in place, beginning Saturday.

Early voting was established through passage of Ballot Proposal 2 in November 2022. Communities must offer early in-person voting for a minimum of nine consecutive days. The mandatory period for the upcoming election starts Saturday and ends Sunday, Feb. 25.

Dickinson County has one site for all municipalities for early in-person voting. Ballots may be cast in the council chambers at Kingsford City Hall, 305 S. Carpenter Ave., Kingsford. Early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day from Saturday through Feb. 25.

On election day Tuesday, Feb. 27, regular in-person voting will take place in each respective municipality from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. as in the past.

In Iron County, the early voting site in Iron River is for residents of the cities of Iron River, Caspian and Gaastra, along with Iron River Township and Stambaugh Township. Residents of the city of Crystal Falls as well as Crystal Falls, Hematite and Mansfield townships will use the early voting site in Crystal Falls. Bates and Mastodon townships are hosting their own early voting.

More information about early voting, including locations and hours of early voting sites, is available at Michigan.gov/EarlyVoting.

The Feb. 27 primary ballot features presidential candidates for the Democratic and Republican parties. Primaries for other offices, including for Congress and U.S. Senate, are Aug. 6.

Michigan doesn’t require voters to register by political party, but a ballot can be cast in only one party’s primary.

In the Democratic primary, the candidates are President Joe Biden, Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson.

In the Republican primary, the candidates are Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson, Vivek Ramaswamy, Donald Trump and Ryan Binkley.

KINGSFORD VOTING SITE

Voters in Kingsford’s Precinct 2 will have a new voting site effective with the Feb. 27 presidential primary election.

All voting now takes place at Kingsford City Hall, eliminating the previous Kingsford Public Works voting site for Precinct 2.

Starting at $3.50/week.
