Roadside cleanup crew

Members of the Norse Drengrs Riding Club were out Sunday doing roadside cleanup chores along a 2-mile stretch of U.S. 141 just south of Niagara, Wis., to Johns Road. From left, in back are Paul Krueger, Nathan Cotterman and Josh Westrich; in front are Neal Pawlikowski, Mark Jicha, Logan Westrich, Joe Meise, Paul Westrich and Roy Graese Jr. They collected about 14 bags of trash Sunday, said Pawlikowski, adding that was only about half the number they hauled out when they first took over the highway section. The non-profit group has operated for just over two years in the former Port Supper Club in Pembine, Wis., which they have renamed The Port of Valhalla. Though private during the week, the club is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. until closing. (Karen Klenke photo)
