District court report released for May

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County District Judge Julie A. LaCost has issued her activity report for the month of May.

New criminal cases for the month included 14 felonies, 15 misdemeanors, one felony drunk driving and seven OWI/OUID misdemeanors.

New civil cases for the month included 56 general civil cases, five small claims and eight landlord/tenant disputes.

New traffic cases included 123 civil infractions, 13 misdemeanors, one felony and 22 non-traffic civil infractions.

Criminal dispositions for the month included three felony guilty pleas with four more dismissed, 12 felony preliminary exams with 11 waived over to circuit court and one bound over to circuit court, one felony drunk driving preliminary exam with one waived over to circuit court, six misdemeanors and 11 OUI/OUID misdemeanors.

Civil dispositions included 21 general civil, four small claims and five landlord/tenant.

Traffic dispositions included 73 civil infractions and seven misdemeanors. There were seven non-traffic civil infractions.

The district court handled two court trials, seven probation violation hearings, four drug-sobriety court referrals, one defendant was referred to the Alcohol Highway Safety Program and five defendants were referred to alcohol counseling.

There were three show cause hearings and three marriage ceremonies.

Funds turned over to the Dickinson County treasurer totaled $41,783.31. Funds turned over to the court trust totaled $9,609.68.
