Storms that swept through the area overnight toppled part of this maple tree at 513 W. Hughitt St., landing on power lines and blocking a portion of South Foster Street on Tuesday. Homeowner Derek Stafford said at about 4:50 a.m. he and fiancee Elizabeth heard the sound of the tree breaking, adding that wind in the past couple of years “is just slowly taking this tree apart.” He can be seen in the blue shirt to the left as an Iron Mountain Public Works employee marks the street.
