IRON MOUNTAIN — Area businesses and organizations can help light up the Lake Antoine Park campground for the holiday season.

The fourth Lights at the Lake event is set for Nov. 28 through Dec. 31.

This year, LAPP has expanded the availability to offer 63 designated campsites for community members to create a light display that reflects the character of their group, LAPP Treasurer Ann Hruska said.

Participants can reserve up to two campsites; however, only about 20 sites are currently available. Each lot is $40, which includes an electrical post.

LAPP will open setup for the display starting in October and it must be completed by the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

“We begin early, as it’s really hard to pound stakes in frozen ground,” she said.

Hruska encourages everyone to begin planning displays now and determine how to best shine a light on their organization.

Participants must also supply their own outdoor-rated lights, cords and timers.

In addition to the campsites, the LAPP will decorate the campground entrance this year.

The free event has been increasing in popularity over the past three years, with more than 3,000 cars driving through the campground and park last year, Hruska said.

Feedback from the community indicates they enjoy watching the displays get bigger and better every year.

LAPP will host a Holiday Open House event Dec. 15, with the possibility of a special guest appearance by Santa Claus. There is no admission fee to see the decorations.

The public will again vote on the “People’s Choice Award” winner for best decorated site.

Three places will be awarded this year.

LAPP is happy to answer questions and provide tips on creating a successful display, Hruska said. Any questions, contact lakeantoineparkpartners@gmail.com.

To reserve a spot, go to lakeantoine.org or mail a registration form and $40 to LAPP, P.O. Box 609, Iron Mountain, MI 49801. Forms can be printed from the website or are available in the campground store at Lake Antoine Park.

The availability map online will be updated as the sites are taken.
