Arrest made in taxi cab theft
NORWAY — Four police agencies were involved in a chase that led to the arrest Thursday of a Norway woman who faces charges in Dickinson County District Court related to the reported theft of a taxi cab.
The 35-year-old woman was apprehended about 6 p.m. in Norway when officers used stop sticks to disable one of the vehicle’s tires, according to Norway Police Department. The cab was reported stolen in the area of the Family Dollar in Norway at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The vehicle was later spotted in the Iron Mountain and Kingsford areas, where officers initiated a pursuit. Witnesses told media outlets the chase at times involved high speeds but there were no reported injuries.
Norway Police Department was assisted by Kingsford Public Safety Department, Iron Mountain Police Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
The theft occurred when a taxi driver went into Family Dollar to get a bottle of water for a passenger, according to media reports.
