HARRIS — Late Thursday afternoon at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris, one individual on the gaming floor — Deanna Juday from Wautoma, Wis. — struck the platinum jackpot on the Whitney Houston Slots machine from International Game Technology (IGT), winning a whopping $630,084.36.

Player Services Manager Robin Bourdeau from the Island relayed that Juday had placed a $3 bet in a penny denomination.

“We are very excited for Deanna,” said Bourdeau. “This is a life-changing jackpot, and we are excited to be a part of it.”

The Whitney machine is a fairly new addition to IGT’s Wide Area Progressive line and only arrived at the Island in June.

According to Action Network, a source for betting analytics, the chance of winning the jackpot on a Wide Area Progressive — which includes a network of machines across multiple casinos — is extremely low, around one in 100 million.
