IRON MOUNTAIN — The driver of a vehicle that hit a parked pickup truck on the 900 block of West Hughitt Street while being pursued by an Iron Mountain police officer was transported to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson for treatment of injuries, police said.
An officer attempted to make a traffic stop at 1:39 p.m. Wednesday after observing the vehicle drive off the road and into a concrete flower pot, Director of Police and Fire Services Jeff Solka said in a news release.
The driver tried to flee, increasing the vehicle’s speed until hitting the unoccupied truck. The vehicle was disabled and the officer immediately called Integrity Care EMS and the Iron Mountain Fire Department for assistance, Solka said.
The extent of the driver’s injuries was unknown.
Also assisting were the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Kingsford Public Safety Department and the Iron Mountain Department of Public Works.
